Do you know who I am? I am a Sahrawi. The land to which I refer is what is known today as the non-self-governing territory ofWestern Sahara. My country was colonized by the Spanish and the French between 1884 and 1975, divided in two and occupied by Moroccan and Mauritanian forces thereafter, and has been ruled exclusively by the Kingdom of Morocco from 1979 until the present.

Oblivion it seems is the current reality for the arid North African territory of Western Sahara; often referred to as Africa’s ‘Last Colony’. In my opinion, it would be more accurate to describe it as ‘Africa’s Forgotten Colony’.

إنشاء منبر دولي لتفكيك جدار ''العار'' المغربي في الصحراء الغربية

لشهيد حافظ 11 ابريل 2009 (واص)- أنشأ اليوم الجمعة في مخيمات اللاجئين الصحراويين، منبر دولي، لتفكيك جدار

الذل و العار بالصحراء الغربية من طرف أربع منظمات اسبانية حسب بيان صادر عن هذه المنظمات تلقت وكالة الأنباء الصحراوية نسخة منه.

و جاءت هذه المبادرة بعد تظاهرة أمام جدار العار بالصحراء الغربية أمس الجمعة، من تنظيم منظمات دولية وصحراوية غير حكومية وآلاف الأشخاص الذين عبروا بطريقة سلمية عن تنديدهم لهذا الجدار الذي يعد أسوء رموز الاحتلال العسكري الهمجي للتراب الصحراوي.

وأوضح البيان "وخلال هذه التظاهرة وبسبب المعاناة على مدى 34 سنة من الاحتلال، تقربت مجموعة من الشباب الصحراوي إلى منطقة ملغمة غير مشار إليها من طرف المغرب و حدث انفجار لغم ارضي مصيبا للأسف الشاب إبراهيم حسين لعبيد19 سنة في رجله اليمنى"

وأكد الموقعون على البيان، تنسيقية الجمعيات الاسبانية المتضامنة مع الشعب الصحراوي، و الشبكات الدولية لدعم الاتحاد الوطني للمرأة الصحراوية، سلسلة الالف ، سباق الدراجات ضد الحزام، "أن هذا الحادث يؤكد المخاطر الجسيمة التي يتعرض لها المواطن الصحراوي في مختلف واجهات الجدار أي من الداخل والخارج، محملين الدولة المغربية، محملين المغرب وحده المسؤولية بسبب مواصلة احتلاله للصحراء الغربية وانتهاكه لحقوق الإنسان بها".

و أضاف البيان " هذا الجدار المعقد، الذي يعتبر الأطول في العالم، يضم حواجز رملية ضخمة، مليئة بالاسلاك الشائكة، ومراقب من قبل اكثر من 125000 جندي مغربي مسلح من طرف بلدان من بينها اسبانيا و فرنسا يتواجدون على طول هذا الجدار غير الشرعي المبني منذ سنة 1980 حيث توجد أكثر من 5000 لغم مضاد للبشر، محولا الصحراء الغربية إلى سجن كبير يفصل الشعب الصحراوي منذ أكثر من عقدين من الزمن ".(واص)
